Staff Sgt. Fred Rowe, currently assigned to Fort Campbell, Ky., stood near Maj. Gen. Robert P. Lennox, assistant deputy chief of staff, G-3/5/7, as he answered questions from members of Congress, Feb. 4, on Capitol Hill. Rowe was given the opportunity to speak during a hearing before the House Armed Services Committee joint air and land forces and seapower and expeditionary forces subcommittees. The hearing, attended by officials from both the Army and Marine Corps, addressed the force protection programs of both services. Rowe was hit by weapons fire in Iraq and was protected by the body armor issued to him by the Army. He told members of the subcommittee he is confident the body armor he and other Soldiers wear is capable of doing the job it is designed to do.
